Gregory Kennedy (Université de Moncton)

Finally, whereas much is known about the impact of the Great Upheaval, pre-1750 Acadian colonial society is still assumed to have been stable and homogeneous. The research conducted and databases created in relation to Kennedy’s book titled Something of a Peasant Paradise? Comparing Rural Societies in Acadie and the Loudunais, 1604–1755 (McGill-Queen’s University Press, 2014) provides the basis for the undertaking of a first-ever systematic analysis of pre-1755 migration involving Acadian families.
