The Journeys of Acadian Soldiers During and After the First World War

Gregory Kennedy (Université de Moncton)

Research on the second theme is breaking new ground by exploring the experiences of Acadian soldiers during and especially after the First World War. Although little is known about the participation of Acadian soldiers in this conflict, Gregory Kennedy has finished a book on the topic. He has created a database of 1300 Acadian soldiers that he could leverage to further study mobility in the context of the post-war transition. Moreover, since other researchers involved in the partnership project are working on Francophone soldiers in the First World War, it may be possible to produce a major publication comparing the experiences of Acadian and Quebec and possibly Franco-Ontarian and Franco-Manitoban soldiers.
